The ANTaR Victoria Committee of Management is elected by the ANTaR membership every year at the Annual General Meeting (AGM). The Committee oversees and co-ordinates most aspects of ANTaR Victoria’s work and determines the overall direction of the organisation. The Committee also supports and resources local groups around the state.


Co-Chairs

  • Peter has been involved in Indigenous social justice issues for over 25 years. Peter currently works at Koorreen Enterprises as the Manager for Research Development and is the National President of ANTaR.

    Peter was formerly the Acting Deputy CEO of SNAICC - National voice for our children, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Advocacy Lead at Oxfam Australia, the Manager - Policy, Research and Communication at the Victorian Aboriginal Child Care Agency and the National Director for Reconciliation at the Uniting Church. Peter has also been a board member of Reconciliation Victoria, the National Sorry Day Committee and the Victorian Stolen Generations Sorry Day Committee.

    Peter is one of the founding members of ANTaR and is currently ANTaR Victoria's Co-chairperson.

  • Richard is a proud Gunditjmara Man who lives on country in south-west Victoria. Some of his roles have included being an Investigator for the Aboriginal Deaths in Custody Royal Commission, Fisherman, Musician, Author, Writer for Live Theatre, Screen Writer, Director of Stage and Screen, Theatrical Producer, CEO, Keynote Speaker for Theatrical Institutions, Workshop Facilitator and Key Note Speaker in Indigenous Issues including Lateral Violence, Cultural Safety, Community Capacity Building and Associate Dean, Associate Professor, Doctor of Visual and Performing Arts and most importantly, Family Man.

    Despite leaving school at the age of 13, Richard has notched up many academic achievements. In 2007 he completed his Master of Arts at RMIT Uni entitled ‘The Art, Freedom and Responsibility of Voice.’ In 2019 Richard completed his doctorate and was awarded his Doctor of Visual and Performing Arts from the University of Melbourne, a dissertation on his life’s achievements and contributions towards Indigenous Australian’s cultural and community foundations. Richard’s current role is Professor of Interdisciplinary Arts at the Faculty of Arts and Education, Deakin University.

    Richard’s lifelong work has been to facilitate the voice of Indigenous Australians via his many public personas. Richard is one of the founding members of ANTaR and is currently ANTaR Victoria's Co-chairperson.

  • Matt is back on the CoM after a number of years taking time out volunteering in order to work with Asylum Seekers. from For over 10 years Matt served ANTaR on the CoM, including 3 years as chairperson. In addition he volunteered in the office, undertook a range of projects, always seeking to increase our profile and our outward focus. He is also a previous Youth Projects Worker for Reconciliation Victoria. In addition, he is a previous resident of the Indigenous Hospitality House, having lived there for 9 years and served on the management group for a further 2 years. In recent times he was part of the working group to establish the Pay the Rent program. Away from ANTaR Matt loves his gardening having recently planted a native garden, is social worker and has a Golden Retriever.

  • Gary has worked for over 20 years as a primary school teacher. Gary has completed a Bachelor of Business/Bachelor Arts degree and a Bachelor of Teaching. Following a move to the Dja Dja Wurrung country, Gary has also had stints at Victoria University as a tutor in Primary School Mathematics Teaching and NAPLAN English marking. Recently, Gary reduced his workload to balance his time between work, his two children as well as his 30-odd chickens and the garden.

    Gary joined ANTaR Victoria in 2023 as the ANTaR Victoria Treasurer and we thank him for his contribution so far.

  • Being passionate about First Nations People's rights and social justice, Alex has been a Committee member and an active volunteer for ANTaR Victoria since 2018. She has a background working in the disability sector, and an extensive career as a freelance journalist. She is a multidisciplinary creative type, having created films, podcasts and multimedia art over the years, as well as curating and producing entertainment events. In her spare time, Alex enjoys reading books, cooking and noodling on the guitar.

  • Angus Frith is a barrister who has represented native title applicants in several States since 1995. His PhD, ‘Getting it Right for the Future: Aboriginal Law, Australian Law and Native Title Corporations’ (Melbourne Law School, 2013) addresses the manner in which native title holders might best manage the interaction of traditional laws and customs and Australian law in their PBCs. He has also taught native title law at JD and Masters’ level at Melbourne Law School. He has been a member of the ANTaR Victoria Inc committee since 1999.

  • Jill Webb is a lawyer who has been working in native title for the past 10 years. She is currently Manager of the Nation Building team at the Federation of Victorian Traditional Owner Corporations and was previously Managing Lawyer at First Nations Legal & Research Services. Jill has been on the ANTaR Victoria Committee for 15 years, holding the role of chairperson for some of that time. Jill is also on the board of ANTaR National. Jill has a Bachelor of Laws (Honours) from La Trobe University and a Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Australian National University. She also holds a Bachelor of Social Work and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Melbourne.

  • Tom is currently completing his final semester of Laws / Global Studies (Human Rights) on exchange at Boston College, USA. He is studying restorative justice and prison reform, welfare policy, critical race theory in literature, and the history of Catholics and social justice.

    He has volunteered and worked in the social justice space throughout his degree, with a particular focus on refugees and asylum seekers. From May to August 2023, Thomas completed a clinical placement at the Castan Centre for Human Rights Law, where he developed legal education and other outreach initiatives on the Voice to Parliament.

    Thomas joined ANTaR Victoria in August 2023 as the Victorian Campaign Manager and significantly contributed to our Voice to Parliament advocacy work.

  • Originally from Port Augusta in regional South Australia, Tim has been an advocate for social justice with First Peoples’ from within the Uniting Church for 10 years, working closely with the Uniting Aboriginal and Islander Christian Congress. He co-designed the award-winning narrative therapy and community art project: Barngarla Stories of Resilience. He has a background in community radio with previous board experience with the Asbestos Disease society of SA and Radio Adelaide 101.5fm. He completed his B.Hons thesis in 2016 titled: Hearing the Indigenous Voice in Media Policy - A Critical Discourse Analysis of Policy Formation in the Australian Indigenous Broadcasting and Media Sector.

    Tim currently works for the Uniting Church Synod in Vic.Tas, and joined the ANTaR board at the end of 2023. He is currently studying a Master of Public Policy and Management at Melbourne University.
