We facilitate and support local reconciliation groups around the state, these groups keep us strong.
The Local Reconciliation Groups are people in local government areas that are passionate about education and recognition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in their local community.
The reconciliation action groups act locally by ensuring Indigenous flags are raised at annual events such as Sorry Day and NAIDOC Week or by helping their local council implement reconciliation commitments and policy action plans.
Most groups stage an annual or new major event each year, including exhibitions, picnics, writing competitions, murals, gardens and tree-planting, healing trails, historic markers and a yearly reconciliation service. We support our local reconciliation groups to create the Australia we all want to see.
