Namatjira Project/ Westwind: Djalu's Legacy/Bastardy – Melbourne International Film Festival 2017


There will be a collection of Indigenous films screening at this years, Melbourne International Film Festival

Namatjira Project tells the extraordinary firsthand account of the international battle to reclaim the artwork and heritage of one of Australia's most important Indigenous figures: Albert Namatjira.

Westwind: Djalu’s Legacy tells the story of Yolngu warrior, father and custodian of his people’s ancient Songlines, Djalu Gurruwiwi who, with some help from global pop star Gotye, must find a way through music to bring two worlds together to save his culture.

Bastardy tells the incredible life story of Aboriginal Elder Jack Charles and has been described as an “engaging film about a complex, flawed and extremely likeable man”.
