Uncle Wes Marne, a 95-year-old Bigambul man and community elder, was walked off of his tribal lands by the government when he was 9 years old. In his piece Fire Bucket, Wes Marne aims to impart the knowledge of his grandfather. After selling out at the Sydney Festival in 2016, Marne is bringing his piece to the Yirramboi festival. He has said about his work:
“I want what I know to be passed on before I cark it. I want people to know that these things really happened. Not only the Aboriginal people, I want other people to know…I want to pass on what knowledge that I have."
The show is running on the 9th and 10th of May at 7:00pm. Tickets are available here.
