"I'm on a new drug and it's called exercise and there's only one place that I can get it and that's at the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service gymnasium"- Gym user
You may have missed that the funding has dried up for the Victorian Aboriginal Health Service gym has dried up and it will close at the end of the year. This has made us really concerned because the gym provides an accessible, safe space for people recovering from drug and alcohol abuse can get healthy, find support and make friends.
The government is so concerned with ending the ice epidemic but is letting these great facilities wither without funding.
We can't let this happen on our backyard, I joined ANTaR Victoria to do my part in closing the social and health gap with First Peoples and I think that funding this gym to continue to do good is the least we can do.
Will you contact the ministers responsible to secure the funding for this vital piece of community infrastructure?
